First up, we went to see Ngoc Son Temple. I think this one was the first Confucian temple we’ve been to on this trip. I loved the carved murals. It was pretty crowded at first, but lots of people were swarming the bridge, and then not really lingering at the temple. Spotted this little tower further out on the lake. Google maps says it’s called Tháp Rùa. The interior was quite striking. This poor fellow. Looks like he could use a lie down. Not sure what his deal was, but he seemed to be enjoying it. Next up, we set out for a walk along Long Bien Bridge. Along the way we spotted a whole lot of farmlands, right next to the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. Long Bien Bridge was designed by Gustave Eiffel (the guy behind the tower in Paris). You can see the similarities. It also saw heavy damage in the war, and has been patched up here and there. House boat on the Red River. The bridge in the distance is used for most traffic, while Long Bien only really hosts motorbikes (and the odd crazy push bike!). Further along, we noticed a little beach in and amongst the banana trees. If you look closely, there’s a bunch of naked Vietnamese guys just chilling out, and doing their thing. Back in Hanoi city, we visited a Taoist temple called Quan Thanh Temple.
